Description: Asiatic Golden Cat
Habitat Range: The Asiatic Golden Cat can be found in most of Southeast Asia, but mostly in China, Bangladesh, Vietnam, India, Thailand, and Cambodia. It mainly stays in areas with a lot of cover, such as, dry deciduous forests, tropical evergreen and semi-evergreen forests.
Numbers Left in the Wild: Unknown
Primary Threats: The Asiatic golden cat is threatened primarily by habitat loss due to deforestation, but it is also threatened by snaring and illegal trade in its pelts and bones.
What we are doing to help:
- Our Cat Sanctuaries at the Phom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center offers rehab and soft releases for live animals that are confiscated from trade and from pet owners.
- Our Wildlife Rapid Rescue Team is fighting the illegal trade of this cat.
