Black Douc Langur (Pygathrix nigripes)
Status: Endangered
Description: These douc are unique with their grayish-blue faces and yellow framed eyes. They are predominantly black, but fade to gray on their bellies and forelimbs.
Habitat Range: The Black Douc Langur is found in Cambodia and Viet Nam, in areas such as jungle, mangrove forest, and semi-jungle.
Numbers Left in the Wild: estimated around 42,000 in Seima Biodiversity Conservation Area in Cambodia

It is most often hunted for traditional Asian medicines, mainly from people coming from the north of Viet Nam where hunting of doucs for this purpose is more common; in the southern part of Viet Nam, hunting is primarily for the pet trade.
What we are doing to help:
- Our Primate Sanctuaries at the Phom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center are attempting to control the many primate farms that are appearing in Cambodia. We also offer rehab and soft releases at our rescue center.
- Our Wildlife Rapid Rescue Team is fighting the illegal trade of this primate.
