Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary
In 2003, Wildlife Alliance expanded Surviving Together Cambodia's protection program at Bokor National Park to cover the Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary, a protected area in north eastern Cambodia which contains one of the richest wildlife habitats in the Kingdom.
In June 2003, 27 newly-recruited rangers underwent training at the National Protected Area Training Center at Bokor and began patrolling the previously unprotected vast territory of grasslands, lakes and deciduous forests. One base station and three substations were constructed to establish a permanent protection presence in the park. Wildlife Alliance has also extended its Community Based Resource Management (CBRM) program to Lomphat, working to inform local villagers and officials about park regulations and providing basic environmental information about the impact of logging and hunting.
