We received information from a foreigner concerning a baby gibbon being carried around streets close to the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh. The WRRT went in search but were unable to find the animal. However following an investigation by WRRT assistant manager, Dara, the infant was seen inside the house of a former high ranking official in Stung Treng province. The team tried unsuccessfully to persuade the owner to donate the gibbon – the normal procedure in such a case. However the following day the owner donated the gibbon, which was immediately transported to our Nursery at PTWRC.
