Wildlife trafficking is a severe and complex issue that has escalated into an international crisis. The market for wildlife and wildlife parts is so big that it is only rivaled in size by the illegal drug and arms trade. This global issue not only drives many of the world’s species to the brink of extinction, but also encourages corruption and harms local communities. Once an area has been decimated and is void of “valuable” wildlife, local economies crash. Despite the effects, the global wildlife trade keeps growing. Unfortunately, human drivers – hunting and habitat loss – are the main threats facing many of Southeast Asia’s iconic and endangered species. If something is not done now, these endemic species will disappear forever.
But there is hope. Wildlife Alliance has developed a holistic, multifaceted, and effective approach to combat the problem from all sides. We are committed to protecting threatened species, safeguarding the ecosystems they depend upon, and empowering communities to make sustainable changes. With your help, we can end this cruel trade and protect the species that are at risk of disappearing within our lifetime.
Do your part to end wildlife trafficking by making a donation. Your gift will make a real impact and help save critical species like tigers, bears, gibbons and elephants from extinction. Help #EndtheTrade.
